As part of an Access to Justice initiative, the ABA Section of Dispute Resolution is working with the Veterans Administration in Memphis to create a pilot project using an Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform to deliver services. This ODR platform will provide a free process that veterans can use to resolve parenting plan issues.

PRO BONO PROJECT-MANAGING ATTORNEY
SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director, this position is responsible for providing support for and coordination of cases referred to the Pro Bono Project. This position is also responsible for recruitment and retention of private attorneys willing to assist clients in our 17 county service area and to develop and implement opportunities for pro-bono and reduced-fee private bar civil legal assistance to low-income West Tennesseans.
KNOXVILLE (October 26, 2017) – Legal Aid of East Tennessee (LAET) has been awarded a 2017 Phase II Health Initiatives Grant from Trinity Health Foundation of East Tennessee. The grant will fund the establishment of a Children’s Health Law Partnership (CHLP) in collaboration with East Tennessee Children’s Hospital in Knoxville. Earlier this year, LAET and Children’s Hospital studied various models across the country to determine the best fit for Children’s Hospital and LAET. That study was funded by a Phase I planning grant from Trinity.
JACKSON – Many Tennesseans face legal problems relating to their basic human needs- safe housing, protection from abuse, access to benefits needed to sustain a family in crisis- and can’t afford to hire an attorney to help them. Left unaddressed, these issues can drive people further into poverty. Thanks to a $229,000 Technology Initiative Grant (TIG) from Legal Services Corporation to West Tennessee Legal Services (WTLS), Tennesseans’ ability to connect to the legal resources they need online will be greatly improved.
Part Time Senior Helpline Attorney
Tennessee Alliance for Legal Services has been providing civil legal advice and referrals by phone to disadvantaged Tennesseans in all 95 counties for 5 years, serving approximately 4,000 callers annually. The helpline serves a critical role in the access to justice network in Tennessee by helping callers identify their legal issues, providing education and connecting them to other resources.
KNOXVILLE (January 26, 2018) – Lawyers as healers and doctors as advocates… that’s the idea behind a new program at East Tennessee Children’s Hospital. Legal Aid of East Tennessee and the hospital have partnered to create the Children’s Health Law Partnership (CHLP), the first program of its kind in the Knoxville area.
NASHVILLE, Tenn., Feb. 26, 2018 – Nashville law firm Waller Lansden Dortch and Davis LLP recently received the Pro Bono Leadership Award from the Legal Services Corporation (LSC) Board of Directors, the national organization that is a key funder of Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands. The award honors Waller’s work with the Volunteer Lawyers Program, managed by Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands.
