TALS' Tim Hughes Selected for TBA Leadership Law 2019

NASHVILLE, Tenn., January 4, 2019 – Tennessee Alliance for Legal Services’ (TALS) HELP4TN Program Manager Tim Hughes has been selected for the Tennessee Bar Association Leadership Law Class of 2019.

Leadership Law is a prestigious program comprised of 35 attorneys practicing across the state of Tennessee. The 6-month program trains participants to be effective leaders in the legal profession and in their community. Program participants attended the opening retreat this week.

Tim joined TALS in 2013 to launch the state’s free legal helpline for low-income Tennesseans, 1-844-HELP4TN. Under Tim’s direction, the helpline has handled over 20,000 calls, and the staff has grown from 1 attorney to 8 attorneys.

Tim is also a member of the Tennessee Bar Association’s Access to Justice Committee and a member of the Board of Directors of Disability Rights Tennessee, serving on the Finance Committee and Executive Committee.

Before joining TALS, Tim worked as a Staff Attorney with Memphis Area Legal Services and the Memphis Fair Housing Center. He received a B.S. from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 2004 and his J.D. from the University of Memphis in 2007.
