As part of the 40th anniversary of EJU, the Sargent Shriver National Center on Poverty Law will be here to record episodes of The Witness, a new StoryCorps-like program that captures conversations between advocates and documents this moment in legal aid history.

There will be various props and accessories to choose from, the photos will be printed at the event, and each picture will have a customized logo to make sure the fun memories made at EJU will not be forgotten! NASHVILLE, Tenn.,October 3, 2017 - The Tennessee Alliance for Legal Services' (TALS) Executive Director Ann Pruitt was named a finalist for the Bank of America CEO of the Year Award at the 2017 Salute to Excellence Awards Ceremony held by the Center for Nonprofit Management. Ann was recognized for her impact on TALS and Tennessee's Access to Justice community. In her time at TALS, Ann has analyzed stakeholder feedback to lead board members and staff in generating the agency’s first strategic plan since 2007.
NASHVILLE, Tenn., Oct. 5, 2017 – Gary Housepian announced today he is stepping down as executive director of Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands, Tennessee’s largest non-profit law firm.
Housepian has served as executive director of Legal Aid Society for the past decade, since July 2007. He will continue to head the organization until a new director is hired through a national search to find a qualified candidate to carry on his work.
KINGSPORT, TN – Legal Aid of East Tennessee (LAET) will host the annual Tri-Cities Celebration of Pro Bono Service Friday, October 13 at The Press Room, 300 Clinchfield Street in Kingsport. Tennessee Supreme Court Justice Roger A. Paige will join LAET to recognize attorney volunteer service in the Tri Cities. Chief Justice Jeffrey S. Bivins is also scheduled to attend.
KNOXVILLE – Legal Aid of East Tennessee (LAET) hosts its annual Pro Bono celebration Friday, October 20 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at Ironwood Studios in Knoxville. The event, entitled “Forging Justice,” will honor attorneys and law firms who have made a significant impact in providing civil legal assistance to people who otherwise would not be able to access the justice system.
