Betsy Mangum

Betsy is the Family Centered Legal Solutions (FCLS) Project Director. Betsy has spent the past 6 years working with victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, and stalking. Betsy was the Legal Assistance for Victim’s (LAV) managing attorney at the Tennessee Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence where she managed the three-year LAV grant and the Coalition’s Sexual Assault Legal Clinic providing victims with civil legal services statewide. She additionally worked as an advocate to serve and support victim/survivors of sexual assault at the Sexual Assault Center in Nashville, TN.  While at SAC, Betsy was the SART coordinator for Davidson, Williamson, and Montgomery counties and the PREA advocate for local Middle Tennessee facilities.

In 2023, Betsy lobbied on behalf of AWAKE and SAC to pass the Advocate Confidentiality bill which gave protections to communications between victims of domestic and sexual violence and community-based advocates.

In 2021, Betsy received the Visionary Voice Award from the National Sexual Violence Resource Center due to her work in supporting victims of sexual violence.

Betsy graduated from Furman University, magna cum laude, with degrees Political Science, Spanish, and Latin American Studies. She attended Stetson University College of Law where she was nominated for the Maria Martin Ethics Award. She is a licensed in both Tennessee and Georgia.
