CHATTANOOGA – What began as a response to the recession in 2010 continues to reap great benefit for the local economy.  Legal Aid of East Tennessee’s Family Stabilization Project focuses on the recently unemployed in the Chattanooga area to identify those who lost a job through no fault of their own, and yet were denied unemployment benefits.  The program provides legal services to help low-income residents appeal wrongful denials by the Tennessee Department of Employment Security, an
CHATTANOOGA – A one year grant that was expected to provide $250,000 in local benefit has instead resulted in more than six times that amount in half the time!  Last fall, the Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga awarded Legal Aid of East Tennessee (LAET) $20,000 to help low-income women and their children escape abusive situations, rebuild their lives, and achieve financial stability and security.
The Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga (CFGC) held “The Greater Race” last Saturday morning in downtown Chattanooga in celebration of the Foundation’s 50th anniversary. The Chattanooga office of Legal Aid of East Tennessee (LAET) won the Second Place $10,000 prize, which was presented today.
