Solo Time at Bristol supports LAET on May 3rd

BRISTOL, TN – SOLO Autocross competition comes to Bristol Motor Speedway, Saturday, May 3rd, as sports car enthusiasts from across the region gather to compete for two great causes.  The 3rd Annual “SOLO TIME AT BRISTOL” is sanctioned by the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA), and features competitors driving a timed precision course on a flat track.

“Solo” competition is a form of autocross where drivers compete against the clock, rather than in head-to-head competition.  They run at least three times on a challenging flat course marked by orange cones.  Drivers cannot “practice drive” the course, but walk it prior to competing to learn the turns, slaloms, and straight-aways.

More than 100 competitors are expected during the event.  Driver check-in begins at 8:00am, with “first car off” at 11:00am.  Driver registration is $35.  Spectator admission is $5/person or $10/family.  Spectators may also pay $10 to ride the course at competition speed with participating ETR drivers.  Following the competition, spectators and competitors may pay $25 to drive pace-car-led track laps on the BMS oval.  All proceeds benefit Speedway Children’s Charities and Legal Aid of East Tennessee.

“We are extremely grateful to Bristol Motor Speedway for hosting this event each year,” said David R. Yoder, Executive Director of LAET.  “Not only do they allow the Club access to this unique venue, but all proceeds of the day benefit two great charities.  And we couldn’t hold this event without the support of our sponsors: Pilot Flying J, WKPT-TV, and 98.5 WTFM.”

Competitors are encouraged to register online.  For more information, visit www.etrscca.org and click on “Solo,” or call 1-800-821-1312, extension 1516.

Legal Aid of East Tennessee’s mission is to ensure justice for elderly, abused, and low-income people by providing a broad scope of civil legal assistance and advocacy.  LAET serves eligible persons in 26 counties through offices in Chattanooga, Knoxville, Johnson City, Maryville, and Morristown.
