Free Legal Clinics for Area Elderly and Low-Income Residents
Low income and elderly East Tennesseans have a new legal advocate on their side thanks to a law school fellowship program in Washington, D.C. Malika Noel has received a JD Distinguished Fellowship from American University’s Washington College of Law (WCL), and is serving in the Knoxville office of Legal Aid of East Tennessee (LAET).
Gail Vaughn Ashworth, Wiseman Ashworth Law Group, PLC, has been appointed to the Tennessee Access to Justice Commission. Ashworth is serving the remainder of Bill Young's term on the commission. Young has joined the Administrative Office of the Courts as Administrative Director. Ashworth is well known within Tennessee's access to justice community. She chaired the Tennessee Justice Center, Inc. Board of Directors from 2006-2008, the Tennessee Legal Community Foundation in 2010 and the Legal Aid Society/Nashville Pro Bono Annual Campaign for Justice in 2011.
