If you are an active-duty member of the military eligible for services through your military legal assistance office (which may include certain members of the Reserves and National Guard), you may be eligible for a referral for legal help through the Military Pro Bono Project.

(ELM), a 501(c)(3) which is a nonprofit charitable organization that promotes and protects the rights, health and economic well-being of older adults and people with disabilities providing information, advocacy, legal advice and professional services.

Baptist Healing Trust recently awarded a $55,000 grant to Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands, Tennessee’s largest non-profit law firm.
The grant will support the 2014 Middle Tennessee Medical Legal Partnership (MTMLP), which includes the United Neighborhood Health Services (UNHS) clinic and Vanderbilt University’s student-run Shade Tree Clinic as partner service providers. Shade Tree Clinic involves bothmedical school and law school students.

NASHVILLE, Tenn., Feb. 17, 2014 – Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands, Tennessee’s largest non-profit law firm, announced today that Barbara Gunn Lartey has joined the firm as victim advocate. Prior to joining Legal Aid Society, Gunn Lartey worked as a bilingual legal advocate at the Tennessee Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence. She has also been a women’s education coordinator and bilingual medical case manager at Nashville Cares and a disability claims examiner at Social Security Disability Services.
