Justice in Agining Seeks Summer Interns in DC, LA, and Oakland

SUMMER INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES FOR LAW STUDENTS - WASHINGTON, D.C.; LOS ANGELES OR OAKLAND, CA. OFFICES

Justice in Aging is a 44-year-old non-profit organization with staff and offices in Oakland and Los Angeles, CA, as well as in Washington, D.C. We have a rich tradition of successful, high-impact, strategic advocacy on behalf of the more than 6 million seniors living in poverty in America.

The Position:

Justice in Aging seeks outstanding law students to work with us in summer and term-length internships and externships in each of our three offices, Washington DC, Oakland, and Los Angeles CA. Law students work on any area of Justice in Aging’s expertise, including advocacy related to income security, dual eligibles (those on both Medicare and Medicaid), and community-based options for long-term care in Medicaid.  Students are fully integrated into our health and income security teams and participate actively in our work.

Qualifications:

We seek applicants with genuine and demonstrated commitment to working for poor and underserved populations, interest in aging issues, high-caliber legal research and writing skills, and the ability to take initiative and work independently. A commitment to a public interest career is desirable.

Justice in Aging is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace and particularly encourages applications from members of diverse racial or cultural groups, women, those who are LGBTQ-identified, people with disabilities, and others whose backgrounds may contribute to more effective representation of low-income people and underserved communities.

Applications:

Please send a cover letter, resume, law school transcript, writing sample, and list of three references to Katrina Cohens, kcohens@justiceinaging.org. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
