TALS Staff Member to Present at Equal Justice Conference

On Friday, May 13, 2016 TALS' staff member Samantha Sanchez, Director of Training, Compliance, & Technology, will present at the 2016 Equal Justice Conference in Chicago, Illonois. Samantha and Tennessee attorney Buck Lewis will conduct a training session on the national virtual legal advice clinic, ABA Free Legal Answers, which was inspired by Tennessee's clinic, Online TN Justice. Samantha serves as statewide administrator to Online TN Justice and Buck Lewis' firm, Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz created the site software for both Online TN Justice and ABA Free Legal Answers. Buck and Samantha's session will be ABAFreeLegalAnswers.org: An Update and Demonstration. The Equal Justice Conference joins all components of the civil legal aid community to discuss and address issues related to the delivery of legal services to low-income individuals in need of legal assistance. The conference is co-sponsored by the American Bar Association and the National Legal Aid and Defenders Association.

Samantha Sanchez has been a TALS' staff member since 2011.  When administering Online TN Justice, Samantha manages the site daily, recurits volunteers, does public service announcements about the site, and coordinates with law schools to host Virtual Legal Advice Clinics.

Buck Lewis is a shareholder in the Memphis office and chairs the Appellate Practice Litigation Group. A former president of the Tennessee Bar Association and the recipient of numerous professional awards, Mr. Lewis is a litigator whose focus is solving complex business, personal injury, insurance coverage, Consumer Protection Act, health care and class action litigation problems for his clients. He currently serves as a member of the ABA's Standing Committee on Pro Bono and Public Service. He is a former chair of Tennessee's Supreme Court Access to Justice Initiative.
