LAS-Clarksville Welcomes New Attorney

NASHVILLE, Tenn. June 12, 2014 – Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands, Tennessee’s largest non-profit law firm, announced today it has hired Samuel D. Keen as an attorney for its Clarksville office.

Keen joins Legal Aid Society from The Prinz Law Firm, P.C. in Chicago where, as a law clerk, he assisted in representing clients in employment related matters. He also worked as an intake manager and site coordinator for the Chicago-based Neighborhood Legal Assistance Project. There Keen assisted homeless clients with a variety of legal issues.

“Sam has experience serving a low-income population with legal services, and he has an obvious passion for the work. His legal internships include Chicago Coalition for the Homeless and the Lawyer’s Committee for Better Housing,” said Kevin Fowler, managing attorney for Legal Aid Society’s Clarksville office. “His service-driven attitude and legal skill are sure to make a positive impact in the seven counties we cover out of the Clarksville office.”

In his new role, Keen will provide legal counsel and assistance for a range of civil legal issues, including health care, housing and family issues.

Keen earned his juris doctorate from DePaul University College of Law and a bachelor’s degree in political science and philosophy from Middle Tennessee State University.

Legal Aid Society gives free civil legal aid to people who have nowhere else to turn. It serves 48 counties from offices in Clarksville, Columbia, Cookeville, Gallatin, Murfreesboro, Nashville, Oak Ridge, and Tullahoma. Legal Aid Society is funded in part by United Way.
