West Tennessee Legal Services, Inc. has an immediate opening for an attorney in our Victim Rights Project. The attorney will provide civil legal assistance to domestic violence and crime victims. Must have a love for family law since you'll mostly handle orders of protection and divorces. Litigation experience and prior work with victims of low-income communities is preferred but not required. Excellent verbal, written, analytical, problem-solving and computer skills are required. The position is based in Jackson, primarily at the Safe Hope Center, where you will work in a collaborative effort with the Jackson Police Department’s Domestic Violence Unit, District Attorney’s domestic violence prosecutor, and the Women’s/Men’s Rape Assistance Program.  The job may require occasional travel to the other 17 counties of WTLS’ service area.

The successful candidate must be licensed to practice law in Tennessee, eligible for reciprocity, or waiting on bar exam results. Salary DOE. You must have a love for family law, including child custody and visitation and post-divorce contempt and enforcement, but you won’t be handling divorces. Litigation experience and prior work with victims or low-income communities is preferred but not required. Excellent verbal, written, analytical, problem-solving and computer skills are required. The position is based in the WTLS Jackson office and requires travel within the 17 counties of WTLS’ service area.
