West Tennessee Legal Services Assists Veterans at Recent Outreach Program

West Tennessee Legal Services recently participated as a vendor at the Veterans Outreach program held in Jackson. The Tennessee Department of Veteran Affairs hosted the program at the National Guard Armory. Over a hundred veterans attended the event to learn about various programs and benefits available to them.

Emma Covington, a paralegal at West Tennessee Legal Services, along with Kathryn Avent and Laura Hilton, were on hand to distribute information. The majority of questions, according to Covington, were about mortgage; veterans wanted to know how to get help in relieving the strain on their income. Covington said that they now have a clearer route to build a stronger relationship with veterans that may need assistance with housing, fair housing, benefits, or food stamps.
