LAS-Clarksville Welcomes New Staff Attorney

NASHVILLE, Tenn. Aug. 12, 2014 – Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands, Tennessee’s largest non-profit law firm, has announced the hiring of Emma Sholl as an attorney in its Clarksville office.

Sholl previously worked as a legal extern at the Southern Poverty Law Center in New Orleans. Prior to her work there, she held legal internships and fellowships with several non-profit organizations, including Children at Risk in Houston, Texas; Southeast Louisana Legal Services in New Orleans and The Legal Aid Society of Mid-New York in Utica, New York.

 In her new role, Sholl will provide legal counsel and assistance for a range of civil legal issues, including health care, housing and family issues.

“Emma has already been a strong voice for the underprivledged and the non-profit legal community while in law school. She also has proven experience working with our clients’ most pressing legal needs, such as disability benefits and domestic violence issues,” said Kevin Fowler, managing attorney of Legal Aid Society’s Clarksville office. “We are excited to welcome her committed spirit to the Clarksville team.”

Sholl earned her juris doctorate from Tulane University Law School where she served as a Managing Editor of the Tulane Journal of Technology & Intellectual Property. She was actively involved in Tulane’s Disability and Health Law Society and Public Interest Law Foundation.  She received her undergradate degree in English from Colgate University.

Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands advocates for fairness and justice under the law. The non-profit law firm offers free civil legal representation, educational programs and advice to ensure people in its region are able to protect their livelihoods, their health and their families. It serves 48 counties from offices in Clarksville, Columbia, Cookeville, Gallatin, Murfreesboro, Nashville, Oak Ridge, and Tullahoma. Legal Aid Society is funded in part by United Way.
